The Dawn Omnibus Edition by Michelle Muckley (Amazon Kindle Books, about 671 pages)
Ok, I never realized there was an omnibus edition including all five of Muckley’s The Dawn Books until I read all five individually. My bad! The Omnibus package is a deal!
The Dawn is a series of five books that tell the tale of a dystopian future that oddly enough only impacts a small, but important portion of the world. Throughout the first couple of books, I was prepared to believe that the overall scenario was due to a World War and was a little surprised when I began to realize that while there was a war, it was due to the machinations of a megalomaniac to fit his own personal goals. The story is well written and Muckley skillfully leads the reader through the possibilities before revealing the reality. The story is one of personal agony of separation, of not knowing and of guilt. It is also one of dedication and sacrifice, and, yes, survival in an effort to improve things. Things that due to suppression, most people never believed could be improved.
While I am not usually a fan of dystopian tales, I found The Dawn books to be entertaining and captivating.
